Christmas Countdown #5 – our valuable volunteers

Written by admin

5 Dec 2020

Today marks the United Nations’ International Volunteer Day and we couldn’t sing our volunteers’ praises enough. The Ross Good Neighbours scheme, set up at the end of 2019, came into force this autumn after the first lockdown restrictions eased. The Neighbourhood Buddy scheme is now in operation and the volunteer team is growing steadily, with 20 buddies helping isolating residents and those who need a little bit of extra help with shopping, DIY, gardening or pet care.

Our Day 5 Christmas Countdown photo is the second place winner in the ‘Outdoors’ category of our photo competition sent in by Sander Jurkiewicz – a beautifully captured and very happy boy on his walkie through the fields at sunset.

Walking in nature is good for the soul and for our mental health. Try and find time this weekend to relax and spend an hour or so in our lovely countryside to refresh your mind before the week ahead. Ideas for walking routes are detailed in our blog on www.rosscdt.org.uk/news.

If you can’t get out and need help with basic pet care due to illness or if you are self-isolating, please get in touch with our Ross Good Neighbours volunteer team and we will be happy to help: tel 01989 313002 or email help@rosscdt.org.uk.
