Connecting Cultures, Building Friendships

Ross-on-Wye & Condé-en-Normandie: A Unique Partnership

Discover the vibrant connection between Ross-on-Wye and Condé-en-Normandie, fostering cultural exchange and community growth.

Our Story and Mission

The Ross-on-Wye Condé-en-Normandie Twinning Association was established in 1978 to strengthen the bonds between these two picturesque towns.

Condé-en-Normandie is a small town in Normandy about an hour south of Caen (and the ferry port of Ouistreham) and it has been twinned with Ross-on-Wye for over 40 years. Since its inception in 1978, the association has been dedicated to promoting cultural understanding and friendship through various exchange programs, events, and community projects. The town of Condé is slightly larger than Ross-on-Wye and it sits in beautiful countryside. It is an ideal location for exploring northern France.

Our mission is to create lasting relationships and enrich the lives of residents in both communities, and our French friends are enthusiastic about developing and maintaining close ties with us in the UK. We are always happy to welcome new members to the twinning. Staying with a family for a long weekend is an excellent and privileged way to experience French culture and family life. You might even find that it will encourage you and your family to try their French skills. Don’t worry though – not speaking French is no barrier to twinning. The French twinners are all very keen to practice their English.

Twinning Visits

The visits are alternate years usually over a long weekend in May. The French came to Ross in 2024 and we are now organising the Ross visit to Condé which is to be over the first May Bank Holiday weekend in 2025.
