Volunteer with Ross CDT
Volunteer Roles
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, make new friends and develop your social skills. More importantly, volunteering allows you to connect with the community and make it a better place. Ross-on-Wye Community Development Trust is always looking for volunteers to join its friendly team, which aims to help the vulnerable and isolated in and around Ross-on-Wye.
We are looking for a wide variety of volunteers to help support our clients and the charity, and we have a number of volunteer roles available. Training is provided. Please read on to see what roles we have available.
If you can give any time and any of these roles appeal to you, please apply to volunteer via the button below.
Face to Face Client Support Roles
Shopper
What’s Involved? To shop for clients who are unable to go to the shops themselves. You will then deliver the shopping to the client. You will be provided with a cash card, so you do not have to use your own money. This role requires a DBS check.

Befriender
What’s Involved? Providing one to one support, usually in the client’s own home. We encourage supporting re-enablement where possible (for example going out shopping, to a cafe, or for a walk together). You will not be required to perform any personal care. The role is simply to provide friendship. This role requires a DBS check.
Time Commitment: One morning or afternoon per week on a set day
Telephone Support Roles
Helpline Volunteer
What’s Involved? Pick up calls, and provide over the phone assistance. Some tasks include: taking shopping orders, signposting and booking slots at the recycling centre. You will need to be confident with using a variety of apps via a computer browser. You will need your own phone and computer. This role requires a DBS check.
Time Commitment: One day every one or two weeks
