SUMMARY:Ross RBL – Chelsea Pensioners 80th Anniversary Visit
DESCRIPTION:Chelsea Pensioners Visit – 1st August.\nRoss-on-Wye will commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the return of In-Pensioners from Ross to Chelsea, following the evacuation of 50 infirm Pensioners from London to Rudhall Manor during WWII. Two Chelsea In-Pensioners, Anne Lloyd and Rodney Trenham will be hosted by the Branch over the weekend.\nThe formal proceedings will commence at 10.30 hrs in St Mary’s with Coffee/Cake; a chance to view an exhibition mounted by historian Martin Cawthorne and an opportunity to meet the Chelsea Pensioners. We will be joined by the High Sheriff, Tamsin Clive DL and the Mayor Cllr Sarah Freer and other guests.\nThis will be followed by a short service of commemoration to be conducted by Rev Colin Leggate at 11.20 hrs in St Mary’s Churchyard. We have asked Ross RN/RM, Army and RAF Cadets, Scouts and Guides to form a guard of honour at the memorial, and Des Auld has kindly agreed to play for us.\n
